Well laid plans: Understanding the Hague saga in the context of Kenyan cultural dispositions

The ICC might not after all bring justice to the PEV victims in Kenya as hither to believed they would. They do not understand the theme of historical injustice that most Kalenjins and native residents of the Rift Valley have perceived. That other tribes, mainly the Kikuyus came and invaded their ancestral land, because one of their own (actually 2 were in power hence they felt invincible), and the need to reclaim what was rightfully theirs could not be achieved, especially after Hon. Raila agreed to share power-which was rightfully his_following the massive vote he gannered in 6 of the 8 provinces. Whether ODM won or lost, the psyche in the whole of the R valley was that “we must get our land back, at whatever COST!” This explains why Hon. Ruto fell out with Raila the very day he (Raila) agreed to share power (which was obviously HIS!). But he did so consirering that lots of people were dying and getting hut, including his own community, the luo. Being a statesman and one who belived in democracy, he had to sacrifice his political ambitions and accent to a national accord of peace and reconciliation. At this point, Hon. Ruto felt betrayed. After all, the biggest voting block for Raila came from the Rift valley. It is also worth considering the cultural aspects of secrecy among the Kalenjins. As for the Kikuyus, their response was mainly retaliatory, as would be expected. Other tribes were victims of circumstances. My appeal, look keenly into Ocampo’s apparent allegations. As of now, thousands of Kenyans are still in camps, ideally refugees in their own homeland _ let alone those who lost their loved ones!
